WDEA Works Employment Update
WDEA Works is one of regional Australia’s leading providers of the Federal Government’s Jobactive (JA) and Disability Employment Service (DES) programs. In response to the current Covid-19 situation, WDEA Works has temporarily changed the way in which it is assisting jobseekers.
Prioritizing the health and safety of WDEA Works staff, clients, employers, their families and the wider community; WDEA Works has equipped over 300 staff across 17 sites to work remotely.
All WDEA Works staff can be contacted by phone or email through normal telephone and email channels. WDEA Works continues to offer employment services to our participants without the need for face to face contact during this temporary limited servicing arrangement.
Director of Employment Services Brett Orr wants to reassure the community that “Although our offices are open in a limited capacity, our service remains at full strength”.
WDEA Works staff are busy supporting clients and employers to retain jobs and preparing jobseekers for any upcoming opportunities. The team is supporting those who have lost their jobs and working with them to prepare resumes and update interview skills. This workforce will be ready to support local businesses once the demand for staff returns.

“Employers can still access our services to receive their wage subsidy payments and for support with staffing needs. So, while it’s not ‘business as usual’; our business is open via technology to support the needs of jobseekers, employers, the unemployed and the wider community in these uncertain times.” Said Brett.
WDEA Works understands the implications that COVID-19 is having on our communities and the labour force. “On the other side of this crisis there will be many people faced with having to find employment either through DES or JA. With compassion and empathy, WDEA Works is here to assist individuals to find that employment as quickly as possible. We are part of the community and will be offering as much assistance as possible to support people through this crisis”. Said Brett

WDEA Works will continue monitor and respond to official advice from Government Departments and Health Services. They will retain open communication with their staff, employers, clients and providers to ensure everyone continues to feel included, valued and supported during these uncertain times.
