Transition to Work (TtW) is a Workforce Australia program that supports young adults (15-24 years old) to achieve their employment and education goals.

The are-able TtW program is based around the pillars of:

  • Health
  • Social Networks
  • Education
  • Employment.

Are-able is delivering Transition to Work for the South Coast of Victoria (Apollo Bay, Camperdown, Casterton, Colac, Hamilton, Heywood, Portland, Terang and Warrnambool).

About our program

With our empowerment approach, you’ll be at the centre of any decision-making. We understand that no two people have the same lived experience, which is why we structure our service and support in a way that maximises individualisation and flexibility.

TtW will not just build your work readiness, but also help you develop confidence, wellbeing, motivation, and community connectedness.

Are-able is a safe, private, and friendly environment. Everybody’s welcome here.

Are-able offers a range of TtW services. We’ll partner you with your own Employment Mentor, who can help with:

  • Pre-employment support to build your capacity and confidence.
  • Activities and workshops to develop your skills.
  • Work experience, job placements and on-the-job support.
  • Gathering your feedback and making any workplace changes.
  • Connecting you with community and specialist services.
  • Introducing you to supportive employers.
  • Ongoing, post-placement support.

Looking for talented, passionate staff? We have some people we’d love you to meet. Are-able can:

  • Connect you with participants whose interests, capacity and capabilities match your business needs.
  • Work with local training organisations, including schools, to develop the skills required for staff.
  • Organise “tasters” or worksite visits for participants to learn about careers in the South Coast of Victoria.
  • Offer wage subsidies for eligible participants.
  • Conduct on-the-job support for participants to assist your business to retain staff.
  • Keep you up to date on all local issues and requirements for staffing within the community.

Who are Employment Mentors

Your Employment Mentor (EM) will work with you, listening to your goals, interests and needs. They’ll support you without judgement or assumption. Through this collaborative approach, they’ll help you identify where you’re at, what you need, and any barriers that may impact your progress.

Working with you, they will develop an individualised, goal-oriented job plan. Your EM will also provide ongoing support to help you track your progress. In other words, your EM will help you figure out where you want to go, then help you get there.
